Homework fo the week
There will be 20 min of nightly reading as the homework expectation. These blocks of reading should be followed by a reflection on what they have read.
Some students may wish to continue learning more about their country of study. However, this is an expectation if they have collected their information in full.
Homework this week
20 min of nightly reading at home will be the only homework expectation this week. Continue to gather information for our respected countries if needed.
Math practice
I noticed that homework wasn't posted on the board. So... Homework will be bonus tonight! You will earn a bubble
Math practice
Sort items (about 20 items) in your cabinets, toy box, dresser, etc into at least three groups by 1 or 2 attributes or traits. Next, illustrate a way to show that data. Use a graph, venn diagram, column list, etc. Finally, think of a good question someone might ask you if this were a test question. How many more, less...?Bring this data to class to discuss tomorrow.
recipe
We are researching the cultural foods from our respected countries. One recipe can be selected as the food of choice for our December 17th cultural day of sharing. Students will be using the recipe in class for a handwriting lesson. Have a great night!

Flag study
We are studying the flags for our country. They are to compare them to the US flag. Finding similarities or differences. Do they have a pledge or national anthem? What do they sing about? Etc.
read online
Reading our story Officer Buckle and Gloria online. Also, some students may wish to use voicthread for continued discussion on any particular listing. Students may pick and choose which to respond.

currency/money
Two days in a row... is it December or what? We had a data meeting right after school and I never thought to post it online. I may have to post this in the mornings now to avoid this reoccuring problem.
So... homework in their planner is to collect information on their country with regard to money. They can find out if they use coins, paper, etc What values? What are the called? Can you find a picture of the type of money being used? How does it compare to the US dollar in looks and value? Any additional information they find particularly interesting.
story problem
Sorry I didn't send this right after school today. I spent too much time on voicethread, reading the responses. LOL
Anyway... they are writing seasonal story problems with the numbers 12 and 20 tonight. Some have already began posting them to voicethread. Again, it is not an expectation at this point but the excitment is certainly there for some to join the discussions. If they would rather respond via paper and pencil, we will accept both mediums for completion. Thanks so much.
